The four winning jewellery designs from Rio Tinto’s champagne diamond competition have begun a promotional tour at seven retail outlets in the US from November 2 to December 27.
The design contest, launched in May, is aimed at attracting talented new designers who could demonstrate the beauty of champagne diamonds, of which Rio Tinto’s Argyle diamond mine is a leading supplier.
"The manufacturers chosen to bring these designs to life represent the best in their craft. The finished pieces of jewellery are a testament to new design talent and uncompromising manufacturing,” said Jean-Marc Lieberherr, general manager for the sales and marketing of all diamonds from Rio Tinto’s mines.
Evelyn Huang of Uni-Creation Inc has won the first place of the contest with an exquisite necklace, called “Bulles de Champagne Collier”. The “Champagne Tango” earrings produced by Joana Miranda of D Navinchandra Gems has been awarded the second prize, while the third and fourth prize are bagged by Graham Edney of Interjewel USA with his “Butterfly” drop earrings and by Vincent Bisazza of Kiah, part of the Sheetal Group, with the “Champagne Flute” brooch, respectively.
