Highlights of this Issue:
*Thailand raises profile as gem and jewellery hub
Thailand is enhancing its global reputation as one of Asia’s gemstone hubs through Ploi Thai, a branding campaign that aims to highlight the Southeast Asian nation’s strengths as a coloured gemstone and jewellery manufacturing centre. “Ploi Thai” is Thailand’s own-country brand for every gemstone produced and cut in the Kingdom. Global economic indicators point to an optimistic outlook for the Thai gems and jewellery industry in 2011, says Vichai Assarasakorn, president of the Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association (TGJTA).
