March 2010 Issue 307
Highlights of this Issue:
- Asian retailers polish jewellery strategies. The year 2009 was full of twists and turns for Asia’s jewellery retailers. In spite of tanking economies caused by the direct fallout from the financial storm in high-income countries, a number of jewellery retailers in Asia registered steady – and in some cases better-than-expected – sales in 2009, results of a JNA spot retail sales survey revealed.
- Hong Kong diamond trade sees brisker year. Despite uncertainties in the world economy and in diamond production, diamond companies in Hong Kong are optimistic that the local diamond trade will fare better in 2010.
- Vicenza Fair. Judging from the number of trade visitors at Vicenzaoro First 2010 in January, one would think that the gemstone and jewellery industry has recovered from the financial crisis.
