Central skyline at night

Central – commercial district and great nightlife

Central is not only a financial district but also an ultimate shopping destination of luxury brands as well as independent boutiques. Start with luxury shopping mall situated at the heart of Central - the Landmark, you can find all the international brand names of fine jewellery and watch flagship stores along Des Voeux Road and Pedder street: Bvlgari, De Beers, Tiffany & Co, Cartier… you name it. But if you are looking for something unique, you might want to get some exercise and walk uphill.

Central luxury shopping area.

Walk up on Wyndham Street and right across is Wellington Street where you’ll find Lane’s Accessories (7 Wellington Street, 2530-5333) for hand-picked costume jewellery across the world. Also check out the Melaine Living Arts (LG/F 37 Cochrane Street, 2815 7873) at the corner of Wellington Street and Cochrane Street, which is a concept style boutique that offers beautiful designs of home decoration and jewellery.

Soho

As you continue walking to the west on Wellington Street, you will enter another hip area in Central – Soho, where you can find many art galleries and concept stores.  Take a left turn on Lyndhurst Terrace: Take a look at funky hand-made fashion jewellery store, Skalli (G/F, 30 Lyndhurst Terrace, 2137 7-94), where crystal, silver, and glass are used in 60’s inspired jewellery accessories. As you keep walking up the hill, head towards Elgin and Aberdeen street, home to local retro feminine jeweller Evelyn Artwear (21 Aberdeen St, 2850-8906). Don’t miss Magnan & Tse (6/F, 15 Aberdeen St, 9221-3588), where two Parisian designers match jewellery with apparel.

The world famous bar district - Lan Kwai Fong at night.

Eat and drink: The famous bar streed Lan Kwai Fong in Central can be a bit dominating when it’s coming to a night out in Hong Kong. Here are some more options: Don’t miss Hong Kong’s first-ever Starbucks (Shop M2, Mezzanine Floor Baskerville House,13 Duddell St) which incorporates nostalgic Cantonese retro “bing sutt” (teahouse) decor with its contemporary coffee house concept. For sit-down options, FINDS (2/F LKF Tower, 33 Wyndham St, 2522-9318) offers an inspiring Scandinavian menu and Classified The Cheese Room (108 Hollywood Rd, 2525-3454) for artisanal cheese varieties. Pastis (65 Wyndham St, 2537-5702) and Cage (3 Mee Lun St, Sheung Wan, 2815-6739) are both great spots for a drink. For organic, relaxed jazz nights, head to Visage One (LG/F, 93 Hollywood Rd, Sheung Wan, 2523-8988).
