The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is opening a new, state-of-the-art laboratory in Hong Kong on Sept. 1.
The new laboratory, located in the New World Tower at 18 Queen's Road Central, will offer on-site services for GIA Diamond Grading Reports and Diamond Dossiers for diamonds weighing between 0.15 and 2.99 carats. In addition, it will provide laser inscription and diamond sealing services.
Items requiring services not provided in the Hong Kong lab, such as diamonds 3 carats or over, colored diamonds, colored gemstones and pearls, will be transferred to another GIA laboratory and will promptly be returned to the Hong Kong facility, GIA said in a media release.
"We are pleased to be able to offer more services to the Asian market," Tom Moses, senior vice president of GIA Laboratory and Research, said. "This new location will make it possible for us to provide even quicker service to our clients."
