With a view to promoting diamond and jewellery products into potential markets such as China, Iran, Russia and other CIS countries, the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) has signed agreements with the countries, reported PTI, a leading news agency in India.
“In keeping with our objective of taking the industry's reach to international markets, we have reached agreements with China, Russia, Iran and other CIS countries for promoting our diamond and jewellery products in these regions,” GJEPC chairman Vasant Mehta said in a statement.
With China being a rapidly growing jewellery manufacturing centre, GJEPC has entered into an MoU with the Shanghai Diamond Exchange, offering the possibility of selling processed diamonds from India in the region.
Meanwhile, the GJEPC has mutually agreed with Russia and Iran to host buyer-seller meetings with Syria, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Poland and Ukraine.
The recently concluded IIJS Signature, organised by the GJEPC, also hosted 10 trade delegations from China, Syria, Uzbekistan, Hungary, Azerbaijan, Poland, the UAE, Russia, Iran and Ukraine.
