Big, Colourful Jewellery Designs from Las Vegas

There’s something about the combination of size and colour that attracts the attention of those who love jewellery and exhibitors at the jewellery trade fairs held in Las Vegas were more than happy to provide pieces that fit this need.

I’ve already mentioned that orange colours were popular this year during Las Vegas jewellery week, based on the Pantone Color Institute naming Tangerine Tango the colour of the year. But blues and yellows from gemstones and coloured diamonds (fancy and less expensive) were also popular among jewellery designers at the show. Rough diamonds continue to make inroads as well as unusual diamond cuts, such as diamond-shaped facets.

The number of large pieces increased a bit since last year in all categories.

Serious jewellery consumers in the U.S., based on what was on display at the shows this year, seem to be leaning toward owning fewer pieces of jewellery but making sure that each piece they purchase is substantial. Or maybe designers aren’t following trends but are more interested in creating quality jewellery that fits their brand identity and their creative strengths.

Whatever the reason, look for large, colorful bold jewellery being promoted by the industry and worn by jewellery buying public for the remainder of the year.
